On The Plane To Perth

It’s the edge of the world
as far as the eye can see –
nothing then but edge and blue sea
and watered clouds.
As far as the eye can see is
as far as the brush got, mid stroke –
as far as the poet got, mid sentence –
as far as the maestro wrote, a note –
left to ring out and
the space between,
the edge of the world,
waiting for the next.
