Scene: exterior night, winter
Shimmered frost topped snow suppresses street,
air crisp, clean
Footsteps crunch toward lone taxi.
Cut to taxi interior
Joe, hat pulled low
Misty jet breath fogs window
Waiting on a fare, just waiting.
Exterior: scuffed white knuckles
rap sheet thin glass,
window begrudgingly open
Mana from heaven
Money changing hands
Coins fall and fill cupped palms
Joe: “What’s this money fer Mr?”
High wind catches collar
and words with it
“Cab fare to nowhere,
You’re saving me son”
Joe, hat pulled low,
watches retreat
lined through rear window heat,
Stagger and step and
Fade Out.
